Win2PDF supports the 14 fonts that are built into Adobe Acrobat Reader®. These include:
TrueType fonts can be configured to be substituted with one of the supported fonts, printed as graphics, or embedded in the PDF file if the "Win2PDF Font Helper" application is installed. To configure the TrueType font substitution:
Open the printers folder from Start->Settings->Printers.
1. Right click on the Win2PDF icon.
2. Select "Properties".
3. Select the "Device Settings" tab.
4. Click on the "Font Substitution Table" item.
5.For each font, choose the substituted font or choose "Print as Graphics". If the "Win2PDF Font Helper" application is installed, fonts will always be included in the PDF file and font substitution is not available.
TrueType fonts that use the symbol character set such as "Wingdings" are automatically printed as graphics. Printing fonts as graphics can significantly increase the size of the PDF file, so this feature should be used with care. Downloadable Type 1 Postscript fonts are not supported.
TrueType fonts that are printed as graphics can look more "bold" than the original font. To improve the appearance of these fonts, you can change smoothing preferences in Acrobat Reader 5.0 by opening the Edit->Preferences->Display dialog and enabling the "smooth line art" option. This option is not available in Acrobat Reader 4.0.
Win2PDF will automatically stretch or squeeze the substituted font to match the original font. In some types of documents, the PDF file may look better when each character is placed to match the original font. You can enable this by changing the "Font Substitution" from "Normal" to "Slow but more accurate". This option can improve the quality of documents that contain full justification.
Changing the font substitution to "Slow but more accurate" may increase the PDF file size. |
